dagaldghglahgalhgla- I got a tablet over xmas break. And I broke it in with Ilumina(c)! Because he's happy, and he's the only character at the moment who is keeping me afloat.

Shit happens, boy do I know it.

Anyway, I started out with messing around with Corel Painter (hurrah, amazing color mixing skills...program?) That made it a hell lot easier to do the coloring. Yet at the same time, made me go 'determined perfectionist' on this piece of work. So about 4 full days of staring at a computer screen, this is the product.

Ahhh, the corneas, they buuuurn!

Okay, a lot of trouble shooting and references were a big help with the metal coloring of the picture (hoorey for flying battle ships). Figured out that photoshop is a monster when it comes to trying to color shit on there. Corel is for less monster coling...people...who are technologically challenged. Such as myself.
PS is only good for effects.
And that's my advice to novices.
Because i'm one myself.

All of the background was done on one layer. Yes, very dumb of me. The only things separate were the windows, the steam and Illumina.
The steam was the most troublesome, at first I colored over the background with creams and browns, opaque. And then mixed them on Corel, but it covered all my detailing below. Lowering the opacity, hoping that it would be an easy fix, no go. I switched it over to PS to mess around with filters and color balance, and that helped some.
As for the texture in the picture, most of it was done by me. I didn't have internet to find specialty textures to save and apply. I had to do it the hard way, goody. But, I'm overall happy with the end result despite 4 days of back pain from slouching over to see the computer screen.
Most of all, the crazy weird perspective makes me feel sick, and with that i find this piece a successful.
