To me this is sort of an important quesion and I'll post-pone my update at Indian Acres for the 4th of July.

Um, I was talking to my dad and he says he's willing to help me make a PayPal account so I can actually make a buck off my art.
But i wanted to ask a couple of people who really do this kind of thing:
Is my art worth being bought?

Just wondering, cause right now I don't feel like jumping into sometihng if I have no chance of anyone really buying any of my stuff.

Also, for those who sell art; how do you sell it online [the process itself?], what are good ways of setting prices for your art? can you sell art without really sending the original [how does that work?] and if you do sell the original, do you have to attain the client's address or something to ship it [or whatever methods, how does that work as well?]

I would really like to know...

Thanks, and I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!:meow:

OF course your art is worth being bought!!!
For selling your art online, ushually I want half upfront, through paypal, and then half after the see it online, and it's finished. I'm not sure how to price art--I guess it just depends on what people are willing to pay, and trust me, honey, you can make some pretty expensive prices, and i'd still buy it. Infact, I saw this really popular furry artist selling colored pencil characters, with no backround for 60$ each, and hell, i'd buy um! And ushually you do send the origional, but if you want to keep it you can always make a photo copy, and yes you probably always need their address to ship art... Your welcome, and happy 4th!!

i take all my money upfront (shit yeah, paypal). some people are shifty bastards. and DUH your art is worth buying. of people will buy it. people already want your art! they should be willing to pay for it, damnit. i always send the originals, its not really good practice to keep them (if theyre traditional media, assuming yours will be). and plus people love getting shit in the mail haha i know i do

Thank you, that really reassures me.

Um, I have a question, what do you mean, "Half upfront, through paypal, and then half after seeing it online and finished"

You mean like you want to see sketched previews so you know what it looks like before it's done, so you know what you're getting?

Oh, ok. [I have some questions...]

Upfront as in, before you start on anything? Or, do you send a sketch, they look over it and then they pay you right after seeing just the sketch [before you color it and finish it?].

And why isn't it good to keep originals? I'm just wondering is all.
I just want to make sure I'm doing things right and I don't get ripped off.

upfront as in. before you do anything. ive heard of people doing it the way your describing, too. or half and half like that person up there said. i just prefer to not get ripped off.

generally when people get a traditional piece done they want the original, because scans never do them justice and because people just like having the original. if you dont want to do any sending out of your stuff i suggest you tell them before you even start the piece. or learn photoshop :)

OH. and i would suggest sending them a WIP sketch, just so if they want anything changed its more likely youll be able to change it in sketch form than after all the coloring is done.

Oh, ok, that makes sense then.

So, say if I already had a piece made. And soemone wants to buy the original, how would that work?
How would I be able to send it to them?
[ i need their address and such? Also, if this is the case, should I or should not put my return address? I don't think I should, for safety precautions I guess]

i don't have PS, and it's too expensive. So I probably won't be getting one for a while, ehehe >3<'
